For your first class, simply arrive wearing comfortable clothes that allow for you to move freely and not overheat. You'll want to bring a water bottle in case you get thirsty. Most importantly, bring a positive attitude and be ready to learn something new!
You will be expected to wear your uniform for all classes - this will include your dobok and belt.
If you are also attending weapons and/or sparring classes, you will need to bring the equipment specific to those classes. Students will be required to purchase their own equipment through us to ensure safety, accuracy and quality.
Be sure to bring your water bottle and a small snack if you will be attending back to back classes.

Definitely! Our adult program is designed to help you achieve your fitness and self-defense goals. You will learn the fundamentals of taekwondo in a supportive and challenging environment.
Each class is 1 hour long. Students should arrive early enough to place their shoes and other items on the available shelves just inside the entrance, then move to the back room for warm-ups at the start of their class time. The first 15 minutes of class are guided warmup exercises and stretching. After that, students will line up along the mats in the main instruction area and take their places on the mats when instructed to do so. Students will show respect to the flags, the training area, and the instructor.
Classes typically start with a review of material from previous classes. Each class may be structured differently depending on the focus of the material for the day.
Our belts reflect the gradual, though focused journey from white belt to black belt. Students may have no prior knowledge of self-defense, and the requirements of a white belt reflect this. They'll learn the basics with the beginner belts, forming a strong foundation upon which more and more complex taekwondo knowledge and skills will be built as they progress toward the higher-level belts.
Students who are committed to the journey will spend approximately one quarter (three months) learning the curriculum and skills of each belt level. At the end of each quarter, students will be assessed to determine if they are ready to progress to the next belt level. With consistent progress and determination, it is possible for a student to progress from a white belt to a black belt in about three years.
Each belt typically requires students to learn and memorize a new "form" - a choreographed routine of foundational movements and skills. Additionally, there are kicking sets, blocking sets, and self-defense techniques they will need to demonstrate proficiency in. There are colored stripes placed on the student's belt to indicate proficiency on various skills as they prepare to demonstrate their knowledge and skill requirements.
